  • Breast cancer remains the most common cancer among Canadian women
  • In 2008, an estimated 22,400 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 5,300 will die of it.
  • An estimated 170 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 50 will die of it.
  • On average, 431 Canadian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer every week.
  • On average, 102 Canadian women will die of breast cancer every week.
  • One in 9 women is expected to develop breast cancer during her lifetime. One in 28 will die of it.
  • Breast cancer death rates have declined in all ages combined and in every age group since at least the mid 1990s.
  • Incidence and death rates for breast cancer have declined since 1969 in women aged 20-39.

Pink Ring 2006

 

April 1- 2, 2006 the Women’s Ringette Association of Calgary hosted Calgary’s first ever 24 hour Ringette game. 96 women competed around the clock in a friendly game of Ringette to raise funds and awareness.

 

Over $40,000 was raised and the funds contributed to the purchase of a Stereotactic Biopsy Table for the Women’s Health Centre in Calgary.

Event Description

Pink Ring 07

The Pink Ring is a fun-filled event that welcomes Ringette players of all skill levels ages 19 and over. Each participant is asked to raise a minimum $100.00, however most participants will raise much more. This event is non-competitive.

Event Extras

2007 Pink Ring

Each participant gets a Pink Ring Jersey. Food and beverages will be provided during the event for all partipants. We will also have give-aways, banner contest and a social.

 

Event Rules

  • The official rules of Ringette Canada will apply.
  • Ringette Canada approved equipment must be worn.
  • Good sportsmanship will be stressed throughout the event.
  • Individuals will be assigned a team and game times prior to the event.
  • 3-4 games guaranteed
  • Team scores will be cumulative throughout the entire event.
